Deputy Minister in Riga
On Tuesday, September 12th, 2017 Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of National Defense Tomasz Szatkowski paid a visit to Latvia, where he took part in the 4th Regional Consultations of Defense Attaches of the Republic of Poland accredited in the Baltic and Nordic states.
These regular meetings are being held to discuss cooperation in the field of security of Poland and its neighboring countries from the Baltic Sea region. This year's consultations took place at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Riga with the participation of the Polish Ambassador to the Republic of Latvia Ewa Dębska.
Deputy Minister Szatkowski also met with the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Defense of Latvia Janis Garisons. In addition to exchanging views on bilateral and multilateral cooperation, Minister Szatkowski presented representatives of the Latvian defense ministry the Polish Defense Strategy and the results of the Strategic Defense Review.
The Undersecretary of State also visited in Adazi military base the Polish Military Contingent ‘PKW Łotwa’ which members perform tasks within the Canadian-led battlegroup (eFP).
Deputy Minister T. Szatkowski decorated Polish soldiers in Latvia with medals and placed a sign with the inscription ‘Warsaw’ indicating the direction to the homeland. Such a signpost is the tradition of every Polish contingent.
