The conversation was in good spirits and concerned a further defense cooperation in the framework of the EU and a potential defense industry cooperation opportunities.
In the course of the discussion on the first issue, Minister Macierewicz pointed out in this context the risks posed by the Russian side and the need to secure the Eastern flank. He explained that reducing the involvement in the Eurocorps does not mean Poland’s withdrawing from its ranks, but only another allocation of forces and resources, due to the planned broader involvement of the corps in missions in Africa. At the same time, he noted that the Polish contribution in the EC would still be one of the largest and exceeding the contribution of most of the largest countries of the EU.
The Head of the Ministry of National Defence welcomed the re-entry of the Airbus into the tender procedure for the purchase of a multi-role helicopter and the intention of DCNS to join the "Orka" submarine shipbuilding program.
The French delegation also discussed the gender equality in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland. In this area, the guests expressed their confidence in the systematic growth of the percentage of women serving in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and of female volunteers in the Territorial Defense Forces of Poland.
