Meeting of the Polish-American Joint Commission
On Wednesday, March 22nd, the 7th meeting of the Polish-American Joint Commission established under the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Poland and the Government of the United States of America on the Status of the Armed Forces of the United States of America in the Territory of the Republic of Poland (POL-US SOFA Supplementary Agreement) was held at the Ministry of National Defense in Warsaw.
The meeting was chaired by Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of National Defense - Tomasz Szatkowski and Director, Strategy, and Policy, Headquarters U.S. European Command – Maj. Gen. David W. Allvin. The signing ceremony was also attended by the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Health - Marek Tombarkiewicz.
During the meeting the following Implementing Arrangements (IA) to the POL-US SOFA Supplementary Agreement committee were signed:
- IA concerning Medical Support,
- IA concerning Security .
The signing of those IAs will contribute to increasing the security and deterrence against threats to Poland and allies in NATO's Eastern Flank.
The Joint Commission is a Polish-American intergovernmental collegiate body intended to conduct consultations on the application of the POL-US SOFA Supplementary Agreement. The format of the Joint Commission, which is attended by representatives of various ministries of both Parties, allows for an effective coordination of the US military presence on the territory of the Republic of Poland. The meeting served as an opportunity to discuss the prospects of further deepening of bilateral and allied defense cooperation.
