Minister Macierewicz on the exercise Iron Wolf

On Tuesday, June 20th, National Defense Minister Antoni Macierewicz observed in Lithuania joint exercises of the NATO Battlegroup in Lithuania with the participation of Polish and 9 other NATO countries soldiers.

National Defense Minister Antoni Macierewicz and Lithuanian Defense Minister Raimundas Karoblis discussed issues related to military cooperation and the command system of the NATO battlegroups

Ministers agreed that:

1) Polish 15th Mechanized Brigade and Lithuanian "Iron Wolves" brigade responsible for battlegroups in Poland and Lithuania respectively will be subordinate to the international divisional command in Elblag, Poland.

2) In the areas of training, alerting and strategic communication both brigades will cooperate with divisional command in Elblag.

3) The issues of ongoing cooperation between the two brigades will be dealt with in an appropriate agreement.

4) Polish Air Force will consider extending the Baltic Air Policing mission for September 2017, during the time of the Zapad-17 exercises.

Iron Wolf 2017 exercise, held in Lithuania from 12th to 23rd June, are part of larger maneuvers  Saber Strike organized in the Baltic States and Poland. In the exercise participate over 5.3 thousand soldiers from ten countries, including the United States, Poland, Germany, Great Britain and Belgium.
