Poland contributes to global security
- During talks in Washington, I will present our proposals related to among others an increase in the number of US soldiers serving in Poland. The declaration on our part is clear - we are ready to accept a larger number of soldiers - said Mariusz Blaszczak, the minister of national defense before the flight to the USA on Wednesday.
During his visit to Washington, the head of the Ministry of National Defense will meet with John Bolton, National Security Advisor for the President of the United States, with the US Secretary of Defense James Mattis and representatives of the United States House Committee on Armed Services and Senate Armed Services Committee.
Mariusz Blaszczak stressed that Poland wants to co-create global security within NATO and is a country that constantly invests in its army. He reminded that Poland on March 28 this year signed a contract for the first phase of the WISŁA program:
- This is indeed a breakthrough event that has moved us to another dimension when it comes to state security. Now talks are going on about the second phase of the WISŁA program. We are interested to obtain the latest equipment at a good price - he stressed.
The head of the National Defense Ministry pointed out that Poland is not only a recipient, but also a donor of security:
- Our soldiers are stationed in Latvia and Romania. We are active on NATO missions, we contribute to the missions in Afghanistan and Iraq - added Minister Mariusz Blaszczak.
As he pointed out, Poland submitting proposals to increase the number of US soldiers on its territory, is ready to participate in the costs of their stationing.
- Both my previous meetings in Washington and in Brussels testify to the fact that Polish-American relations are very good. There is a good atmosphere of these talks - said the head of the Defense Ministry.
