On Monday 9th Estonian Defence Minister paid a visit to Polish MOD. Strengthening cooperation and defence within NATO and the EU were the main issues of the bilateral talks.
- We have a common view on all issues and we are convinced that the decisions taken at the forthcoming meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence and then decisions taken at the next NATO Summit will substantially modernize and reinforce the Alliance's command structure and ensure our security - said Antoni Macierewicz.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Jüri Luiki emphasized in his statement that talks held in Warsaw were mainly devoted to strengthening security issues within the eFP area.
- We talked about the North Atlantic Alliance, NATO Enhanced Forward Presence in the Baltic States and the possibility of further developing a unified NATO military structure. We discuss issues which will be raised at the forthcoming meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence in Brussel - said Minister Jüri Luik.
The Head of the Estonian Ministry of Defence stated: that Poland plays a very important role in NATO's eastern flank, because Poland is guarantor of deterrence.
On Tuesday, Minister Jüri Luik with the members of the Estonian delegation of the Ministry of Defence of Estonia laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw.
